With the K League now officially underway for 2022 campaign,
this week's podcast sees host Ryan Walters speak with K League TV
commentator Alex Jensen and K League Brazil's Khaleby Gomes take a
look at the opening weekend and give their key takeaways from the
action.
K
League is finally back and the weekend brought goals, shocks and a
surprising number of clean sheets. In K League 2, newcomers Gimpo
FC kicked off their first game with a win against recently
relegated Gwangju FC while Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors stretched their
unbeaten opening day streak to 11 years.
Elsewhere in K League 1 Suwon Samsung Bluewings fell to Incheon
United after being reduced to ten men early on, while FC Seoul got
off to an uncharacteristically winning start, seeing off last
seasons third-placed finishers Daegu FC. Sunday's top flight action
also saw Gangwon see off Seongnam, Pohang overthrow Jeju and
newly-promoted Gimcheon Sangmu, reduced to ten men, hold Ulsan
Hyundai.
K
League 2 also saw wins for FC Anyang, Seoul E-Land while Busan drew
with Ansan Greeners and Bucheon ended goalless with Chungnam
Asan.
Alex
and Khaelby comb through the action to give their takeaways from
the opening round.
